Shawn Webb-Young holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Lamar University as well as a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Houston. Following graduate studies, he worked for 11 years as the Director of Educational & Case Management Services at a non-profit organization serving refugee and trafficked-persons populations. He was also an adjunct professor at the University of Houston for four years specializing in gender & sexuality and psychological anthropology.
Additionally, he has been an active volunteer in the recovery community of Houston for several years serving those overcoming chemical dependency. He is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern as well as a Recovery Support Specialist through the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, respectively. He is incredibly passionate about assisting others in rebuilding their lives through recovery, and he has done so in diverse settings including hospitals, treatment centers, sober living homes, and 12-Step Programs.
Shawn enjoys yoga, tennis, films, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and his dog. He is an avid traveler having visited 26 countries on five continents.
